Student Teacher Scheme
Enact Academy offers students in higher education or those who are a member of the Enact Seniors class the opportunity to explore teaching as a career by spending allocated terms assisting the Enact Team during weekend stage school sessions. It also gives participants an opportunity to raise pupil aspirations at Enact Academy and to help mentor younger pupils during performance activities.
How does the Scheme work?
Students complete a short self-study package using our highly defined assisted learning materials, followed by a placement in Enact Academy’s Weekend Stage School where they gain classroom experience working alongside teaching staff. The study materials consist of guided reading and a series of structured activities which were designed to help students actively take a leading role within Enact Sessions. They cover key aspects of Performing Arts and the fundamentals of teaching. Students are monitored weekly and assisted in their learning by Enact Academy staff. They also take on active technical roles behind the scenes of productions. Enact Academy Student Teacher are a strong contribution to the Weekend Stage School.
What do our Student Teachers do?
They experience all the facets of life in a Stage School setting, often bringing with them their own experiences, special interests and talents to help raise pupil aspirations. They shadow teachers and pupils, support pupils individually or in small groups, prepare resources for teaching and plan, teach and evaluate part of a lesson or, in some cases a complete lesson.
